All about Leather

Leather is a fibrous material woven by nature in a way that no man-made fabric could ever duplicate. If we look at the way cow hides are structured we can understand the nature of leather and its wonderful properties.

Real leather is a completely natural product. It breathes and has individual characteristics which make each hide unique.

One of the most attractive features of leather is that it always bears the marks of its origin. These marks do not affect its performance in any way. In fact they are the signs the knowledgeable will look for when buying leather, and as time passes they blend into a patina which enhances its beauty.

Leather Care

Usually leather in vehicles requires little maintenance. Regular care will ensure its lasting quality and some rules for regular cleaning are as follows:

• Clean the leather with a soft damp cloth taking care not to soak the leather.
• For more thorough treatment the leather should be cleaned using a light soapy solution applied to the surface of the leather in circular motions until the dirty parts are clean.
• Do not use saddle soap, wax polishes or spray polishes especially if they contain a silicone base.
• Avoid letting buckles, studs and zips come into contact with the leather seat covers.
